The “B” Word

Budget. There, we said it. The awful “B” word.

As Travel Advisors (AKA the “new” term for “travel agent”), there is a divide about the word “budget”. Do you even bring the word “budget” up in conversations with clients? Or do you simply act like budgets don’t exist?  

In the official opinion of bookitbox TRAVEL, we think it is critical to discuss the “B” word with potential clients. 

There are two ways to book travel: #1. the cheapest way possible, or #2. the way that provides the best travel experience. We only book travel based on our guests having the best experience. Don’t let that confuse you! We are still conscientious about money when booking for clients. 

During our initial consultation process, one of things we’ll discuss is your trip investment. There are two camps here: some travelers say “we’ll describe our travel style and what we’re looking for, and you tell us what it cost” and others have a ballpark budget in mind and prefer to have the trip built as closely to their ultimate travel style, but knowing we may need to modify some of the trip elements to meet their desired trip investment amount.

As you select your travel dates, keep in mind that hotel costs during peak season, holidays, and special events can increase substantially. 

What does “minimum investment” mean?

It means that we have confidence we can create the type of travel experience you will be thrilled with on that daily allocation.

What can you expect with the minimum investment?

We always book a minimum of a 4-star property. We never book flights below “Main Cabin”. Roundtrip transportation is included. Reserved and recommended experiences and dining will be on your itinerary.  

More of a luxury 5-star traveler? No worries! There is no maximum budget. We have access to private jets, luxury villas, private after-hour tours (Versailles after hours, anyone?), so no request is too extravagant. 

Our mission is to create out-of-the-box travel experiences, in a box. So if saying the “B” word is required to make that happen, we’re willing to say it!
